ELECTION CALENDAR - 2023

The following is a breakdown of the important dates for the election to be held in 2023. This is a Town Election year. If you are a resident/voter of the Town of Barnstable and move or change your home and or mailing address, please notify the Town Clerk so that you will not lose your voting privileges. 

OCTOBER 27, 2023– LAST DAY TO REGISTER TO VOTE FOR TOWN ELECTION

The Town Clerk’s Office will be open until 5 p.m. for that purpose.
If registering online, the deadline is midnight, October 27, 2023.

NOVEMBER 7, 2023– TOWN ELECTION – Polls are open from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. in all 13 precincts. The following positions are up for re-election:

TOWN COUNCIL: 13 Town Council positions are up for election
SCHOOL COMMITTEE: 3 positions
HOUSING AUTHORITY: 2 positions

The reason all 13 town councilors are up for election at once is that the 2022 Census caused changes in precinct lines.  This happens every ten years.  

NO EARLY VOTING in person for this Town Election.

Absentee ballots and Vote by Mail ballots will be available and they follow the same process.
As of today, the ballots are at the printer and the Clerk hopes they will get them back on Friday the 13th, so they can begin to send out ballots on the 16th.
 

Your request for an Absentee ballot or a Vote-by-mail ballot must be written on a form provided by the Clerk's office.  You can email, or call them and they will send you an electronic form, which you will have to print, or they can send you a copy of the form in the mail. The Clerk needs a paper copy of the form in the office, with your signature on it, before a ballot can be sent out.  They are asking that you begin this process before the 27th of October.
